Bad news though. My favorite professor of all time, Dr. Letcher, is leaving OU. I almost cried when he told us. I'm really glad I got to have the young adult lit. class with him though, because I think he is the only adult who loves YA books as much as I do. I can't imagine that class being taught by someone else. I have Methods with him in the spring, so that is good, but he won't be there for my student teaching, which makes me extremely, extremely depressed. There is no one else would could possibly be as good/know the program as well as he does.
Last night I borrowed about ten books from his library for the break. lol. He recently went to a YA-lit/teaching conference where teachers get all the new YA books before they hit the shelves. I got to borrow Linger from him, the sequel to Shiver, before it comes out this summer, so that made me feel all special! I'll know what happens before anyone else! lol. And I borrowed a few others that are already out there. I finished Everwild (AMAZING!!) and am reading The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore. It's really good so far. I love a good ghost story.
So my plans for the break are thus: Read as much as I possibly can, Write when I finally feel the inspiration (I don't at this very moment, since I just finished Angel), and work on Tim's homemade Christmas gift. We agreed to make each other gifts to save money, which is fine for Tim since he's Mr. Artistic-Genius. I can't even cook. So I decided to make him a pretty journal-type book with lyrics to songs that remind me of him and us, and at the back I'm going to put a burned cd with all the songs on them. I think I can get my sister to help me make a cd cover for it, which would be nice.
I have managed to basically buy everyone else's gifts (accidentally went into the negative in my account to do so). For my dad, I am baking him cookies, since everything I ever buy him just ends up on a shelf collecting dust. My brother is getting an iTunes giftcard. My sister is getting clothes from work. In fact, ALL of my other gifts for female friends and relatives came from work. Hey, I get a 40 percent discount. Why shop elsewhere?
Anyways, I've gotta get over to campus and turn in these papers and also take advantage of the gym one last time (and renew my locker rental). SO, that being said, bye for now!
